And ye shall count unto you from the morrow after the sabbath, from the day that ye brought the sheaf of the wave offering; seven sabbaths shall be complete: Even unto the morrow after the seventh sabbath shall ye number fifty days; and ye shall offer a new meat offering unto the LORD. Leviticus 23:15-16
Shavuot is 50 days following the Festival of Firstfruits. It is also known as Pentecost.
The Hebrew word and meaning for “sheaf” in the verse above is “omer”. Passover concludes with Shavuot, and the 49 day counting of the omer is what connects these two feasts. After you complete the counting of the omer to the 49th day, the next day is the celebration of Shavuot/Pentecost.
What does the counting of the omer represent to us spiritually as believers in Yeshua the Messiah? Counting the omer represents growing in spiritual maturity.
That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive; but speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ. Ephesians 4:14-15
There has been a controversy over the last 2,000 years regarding how to count the omer. There are several groups of people with different positions. These different groups disagree on when you start counting the omer. This teaching covers what each of the different positions are.
The teachings on the Festival of Shavuot (Pentecost) will explain the themes of Shavuot as well as explain that Yeshua gave the Torah at Mount Sinai and when He died on the tree that He died the death of the penalty of an adulterous woman. The themes of Shavuot will cover the counting of the omer (both the Karaite and Rabbinic Jewish view) and the personal spiritual application of counting the omer, the wheat harvest, the wedding betrothal, the first trump, waving the two loaves baked with leaven and renewing of the covenant.
This teaching series will also explain from the Midrash Rabbah on Numbers 5:12-31 (a wife suspected of adultery) how the rabbis associate the adulterous wife to the nation of Israel. The teaching will also explain that the ‘church’ (the House of Jacob) was born at mount Sinai and was reborn in Acts 2. It will explain how the original covenant at mount Sinai was a Torah based covenant and the reNEWed covenant is a Torah based covenant. The difference is that the original covenant is the Torah written upon a heart of stone and the reNEWed covenant is the Torah written upon a heart of flesh.

With each subject, you can either watch a full length video teaching on each course OR listen to same course in shorter 25 minute audio segments.
After you have watched the video or listened to the audio, there is an online quiz with in-depth study questions so you can dig deeper into the scriptures with each lesson.
You can take the courses online to receive ribbon points for completing a course and badge points for completing a subject.
When you complete all courses and all subjects, you can receive a
certificate of completion. This certificate is equivalent to a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Hebraic studies. We will be looking into college accreditation for the program in the future for those who desire to have this.
Alternatively, if you are a Pastor or home group leader, you can lead your home group or congregation through the questions in a small group discussion format.
